Meg Ramey, Ph.D.

Executive Director

The Dreamer-in-Chief

Meg Ramey is the Executive Director of WorldKind, an organization that aims to bring the best practices of instructional design into the field of education abroad. WorldKind designs online, in-person, and on-the-ground learning experiences that encourage ethical travel and enable sustainable learning practices by making learning and development more accessible across the world.

Dr. Ramey is both an instructional designer and an international educator who is passionate about enabling others to learn. With over 20 years of experience in designing learning experiences in many different environments and having taught over 2000 learners at 12 different institutions across 5 continents, she brings a diverse, inclusive, and global perspective to her work.

You can check out her instructional design portfolio here, see some of the past educational travel programs she has led here, and learn about some of the courses she's taught for churches here

After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), an M.Div. with a concentration in educational psychology from Truett Seminary, Baylor University, and a B.A. in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Furman University, she served as a tenured Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Messiah University in Pennsylvania for 8 years as well as the Program Coordinator for Messiah's International Business Institute in 2017. There she led students on education abroad programs to 16 different countries before transitioning to work in the educational travel and eLearning sectors. As the previous Director of Education Abroad for Tutku Educational Travel, she enjoyed working with professors and pastors in the development of customized educational travel programs.

Dr. Ramey also often serves as a guest scholar on educational travel programs across the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Europe and frequently lectures in universities and churches too. She has presented before at both NAFSA (Association of International Educators) and the Forum on Education Abroad, is a member of NAFSA's Trainer Corps, and was a part of the Forum's International Working Group. She has published articles and chapters on both biblical studies and popular culture topics, was the editor-in-chief for the Oxford University Press "Bible in Fiction" project published on Oxford Biblical Studies Online, and occasionally writes articles for the Biblical Archaeological Review, such as this recent one on "Hiking in Paul's Footsteps" in Turkey.

In her free time, she volunteers with her local Rotary Club and serves on the board of YesLiberia, a non-profit that seeks to empower young people in Liberia through meaningful service-learning opportunities in education, healthcare, and technology. When the weather is nice, you can find her outdoors kayaking, hiking, biking, or camping with her husband (with camera in hand and ready!). She also enjoys creating stained, fused, and sea glass mosaics; playing board games and sharing meals with friends; and, of course, working on developing WorldKind.
